This is a list of media sources related to religion in America, with a special emphasis on interfaith/multifaith media sources. It also includes a selection of faith-specific media, relevant journals, and media organizations. 

Interfaith/Multifaith Media

American Diversity Report is a multimedia platform focusing on cultural diversity. It aims to inspire and instruct for an inclusive future.

Interfaith America Magazine amplifies religiously diverse voices, tells stories about people working together for the public good, and connects readers to resources. In addition to original content, Interfaith America Magazine shares stories from key partner organizations.

The Interfaith Observer thrives in the Center for Ecumenical and Interreligious Engagement (CEIE) at Seattle University. The Interfaith Observer releases two multi-author and theme-based volumes in the fall and spring of each academic year, with a focus on first-person accounts on the positive impact of religious and cultural pluralism as a force for good in the world today.

New India Abroad is a weekly newspaper covering domestic and international issues relevant to Indian-Americans. 

Patheos describes itself as "the world's homepage for all religion."

Spirituality & Practice is a multifaith and interspiritual website ... devoted to resources for spiritual journeys. The site's name reflects a basic understanding: spirituality and practice are the two places where all the world's religions and spiritual paths come together. 

State of Formation is an online forum for emerging religious and ethical leaders. Founded as an offshoot of the Journal of Interreligious Studies, both publications are produced by the Betty Ann Greenbaum Miller Center for Interreligious Learning & Leadership at Hebrew College and Boston University School of Theology. The forum is for up-and-coming religious and ethical thinkers to draw upon the learning that is occurring in their academic and community work.

Religion Dispatches aims to create a new way of thinking about religion in American culture and politics, one that challenges last century’s media dominance by an ultra-conservative fringe, that invites free discussion of religious ideas once they’ve hit the public square—and that keeps the website and its readership powerfully engaged.

Religion News Service is an independent, nonprofit source of global news on religion, spirituality, culture and ethics. RNS seeks to inform readers with objective reporting and insightful commentary.

World Faith News aggregates news and articles from the news offices of national and world faith groups.

Faith-Specific Media

altMuslimah is the only media platform that is wholly dedicated to stories and commentary on gender-in-Islam from the male and female, Muslim and non-Muslim perspectives.

America Magazine is the leading provider of editorial content for thinking Catholics and those who want to know what Catholics are thinking. 

Bahá’í World News Service reports on major developments and endeavors of the global Baha’i community.

Back to Godhead: The Magazine of the Hare Krishna Movement is a bi-monthly magazine covering aspects of the philosophy and practice of Krishna consciousness as taught by Srila Prabhupada.

Christian Century is a progressive, ecumenical magazine based in Chicago. The Christian Century explores what it means to believe and live out contemporary Christian faith.

Christianity Today is an evangelical media ministry reporting and providing commentary on global evangelical news.

Commonweal is a monthly Catholic magazine who's mission is to provide a forum for civil, reasoned debate on the interaction of faith with contemporary politics and culture.

The Forward delivers incisive coverage of the issues, ideas and institutions that matter to American Jews. 

Hinduism Today is a quarterly magazine published by the Himalayan Academy. The magazine seeks to promote unity among Hindus, promote Hinduism, and inform and educate the public on Hindu sacred texts, beliefs, and culture.

TheHumanist.com is the online publication of the American Humanist Association, providing daily news, opinion, and information.

Indian Country Today is a daily digital news platform that covers news related to indigenous nations in North America. 

Jain Spirit was a magazine published from 1999-2006 that presented Jain ideas, practices, and contemporary activities to a global audience; it is now accessible through Jainpedia. 

Lilith is a quarterly magazine that seeks to be the feminist change-agent in and for the Jewish community, amplifying Jewish women’s voices, creating a woman-positive Judaism, spurring gender consciousness in the Jewish world and empowering Jewish women and girls to envision and enact change in their own lives and their communities.

Living Lutheran is a monthly magazine that offers news, reflections and stories from the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The magazine aims to nurture awareness of Christ’s presence in readers' lives and the world, share stories of God’s people living their faith, connect readers with the global Christian community, provide an open forum for discussion, and challenge readers to bring God’s grace and care to all.

Mandala Magazine is a bi-annual publication from the Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition. The magazine focuses on topics related to the Gelug tradition of Tibetan Buddhism; the lineage of Lama Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche; FPMT centers, projects, and services; and the lives of modern students of Mahayana Buddhism.

Shambhala Publications is an independent company that seeks to publish books, in the hope of contributing to the development of a thoughtful, kindhearted, and contemplative society. They offer numerous titles on meditation and a wide range of spiritual traditions, from Buddhism and Taoism to contemplative traditions within Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, and Sufism.

SikhNet is a global virtual community for Sikhs and all those interested in the Sikh way of life.

Sojourners Magazine is published 11 times per year, focusing on the intersection of faith, politics, and culture from a Christian perspective.Much of their coverage explores climate justice, economic justice, nonviolence and peace, immigration, racial justice, and women and girls. 

Tablet Magazine is a daily online magazine of Jewish news, ideas, and culture. Of particular note: Religious Literacy in America.

Tricycle Magazine is a quarterly magazine that aims to explore contemporary and historic Buddhist activity, examine the impact of its new context in the democratic traditions of the West, and introduce fresh views and attainable methods for enlightened living to the culture at large.

Wisdom Publications is a publisher of books, podcasts, and online courses on contemporary and classic Buddhism, mindfulness, and meditation.

The Wild Hunt is a daily online news journal, and is the primary destination for those interested in following news and commentary relating to modern Paganism, Heathenry, polytheism, the Occult, New Age, and other similar religions or practices.

Faith & Media Initiative is a nonprofit that connects and provides resources to a global network of media members, content creators, faith leaders, and community members to ensure accurate, balanced representation of all faiths in news and entertainment.

Religion Newswriters Association is a journalism association for people who write about religion in the news media. RNA aims to equip journalists throughout the world with the tools and resources they need to cover religion with balance, accuracy and insight.

Religion Communicators Council is an association of communications professionals who work for and with a diverse group of faith-based organizations in the areas of communications, public relations, advertising and development.

Journals and Scholarly Publications

APRIL/CrossCurrents has published many of the most important religious thinkers of the age. Committed to the public understanding of religion, the journal is operated through its parent organization, the Association for Public Religion and Intellectual Life, an interreligious network of academics, activists, artists, and community leaders. Contributions to the journal exist at the nexus of religion, education, the arts, and social justice. Work in the journal is supplemented by [the] online magazine, The Commons.

The Immanent Frame publishes interdisciplinary perspectives on religion, secularism, and the public sphere. Founded in October 2007 in conjunction with the Social Science Research Council’s program on Religion and the Public SphereThe Immanent Frame features invited contributions and original essays, and serves as a forum for ongoing exchanges among leading thinkers from the social sciences and humanities.

Journal of Buddhist-Christian Studies is an annual scholarly journal that covers historical and contemporary interrelationships between Buddhism and Christianity. 

Journal of Ecumenical Studies was founded by Arlene and Leonard Swidler in 1964 as the first peer-reviewed journal in the field of interreligious dialogue. Born out of the ecumenical spirit of Vatican II, J.E.S. began with an emphasis on dialogue among diverse Christian traditions. Its focus quickly broadened to Christian-Jewish dialogue and soon thereafter to interchange among a wide array of religious traditions.

Journal of Hindu-Christian Studies is published annually by the Society for Hindu-Christian Studies, a scholarly society dedicated to the study of Hinduism and Christianity and their interrelationships. Through its annual meetings and the journal, the society seeks to create a forum for the presentation of historical research and studies of contemporary practice, for the fostering of dialogue and interreligious conversation, carried forward in a spirit of openness, respect and true inquiry.

The Journal of Interreligious Studies is a forum for academic, social, and timely issues affecting religious communities around the world. It is a peer-reviewed publication dedicated to innovative research on and study of the interactions that take place within and between religious communities.

Religious Studies News is a platform for students and professionals involved in the teaching and scholarship of religion. RSN communicates important events of the field and examines critical issues in education, pedagogy, research, publishing, and the public understanding of religion.

Studies in Christian-Jewish Relations is the journal of the Council of Centers on Jewish-Christian Relations and is published by the Center for Christian-Jewish Learning at Boston College.
