On April 2, 2004 AllAfrica.com posted an article from The Independent that reported, "Deacon Jah, the travelling secretary of the Scripture Union has expressed satisfaction over the religious tolerance that prevails in the country. Speaking at a Bible quiz competition held recently at Saint Augustine's Senior Secondary School, Jah stated that the manner Christians and Muslims live with each other is worth commending. 'It shows that The Gambia is a circular state and I am delighted with the way Christianity and Islam has co-existed peacefully over the decades,' he said."
