Sikh NGO Launches Campaign Against Female Foeticide

On June 26, 2006 SikhSangat reported, "Kirtani Sewa Society, an NGO functioning at Ballowal village in Ludhiana district, launched a crusade against drug addiction and female foeticide. The declaration was made on the conclusion of Guru Arjan Dev’s martyrdom celebrations on Sunday. According to Mr Gurmukh Singh, president of the society, office bearers and activists of the society have vowed to launch a move to make aware people of the consequences of social evils including drug addiction and female foeticide. The declaration was made on a call by Mr Mann Singh Garcha, senior leader of SAD. Addressing the gathering, Mr Mann Singh Garcha urged leaders of various social and political organizations to create awareness among masses about the ill affects of addiction and female foeticide."
