Local kids will be given a taste of faiths this fall.

A "bold, new community initiative" called Surrey Neighbouring Faiths Program will take children and families on weekly visits to the religious gathering places of nine different faiths.

The two-month program is aimed primarily at kids age four to six, to help them "discover a side of their community few have the opportunity to experience," according to a media release announcing the initiative, which runs from September 14 to November 16.

The children, with caregivers in tow, will be introduced to faiths, including Bahai, Buddism, Christianity, First Nations Spirituality, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, Sikhism and Unitarianism.

The program is designed to empower parents to raise more knowledgeable and caring children.
