On August 10, 2004 The Miami Herald reported that great efforts are being made to prepare for the Dalai Lama's visit to Miami. "The Nobel Peace laureate and spiritual leader of the Tibetan people will visit Miami, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Mexico from Sept. 19 to Oct. 7... Members of the Interfaith Council are encouraging local organizations to buy ad space in brochures promoting the Dalai Lama's visit, which will be sponsored jointly by Florida International University, the University of Miami and the nonprofit Buddhist organization Osel Dorje Nyingpo."
