Ann Lynn Lipton, a Jew, was surprised when in a diversity training session, a classmate asked to stereotype her guessed she was a Catholic from New York.
When she asked what made him think she's Catholic, he told her "I was afraid that if I guessed you were a Jew that you'd be insulted."
A gasp rippled through the United Jewish Community Center in Newport News as she told the story to a group of about 350 participants at "Tolerance – the Gift of Goodwill," a seminar sponsored by the Multi-Faith Women of Hampton Roads.
