On September 15, 2004 North County Times reported, "with neighbors promising to compromise, the City Council [of Escondido, CA] voted Wednesday to reconsider its denial of a Tibetan Buddhist center planned for a cul-de-sac neighborhood. Councilman Tom D'Agosta changed his mind and reversed the majority vote after the applicant agreed on tougher guidelines to build the 4,130-square-foot temple and a 1,100-square-foot guesthouse on 2.5 acres at 1768 Sheridan Place... D'Agosta said he would ask that the council first send the temple application back to the Planning Commission for reworking. That would allow the 17 neighbors who unanimously opposed original plans to have a say in its final design."
