On July 15, 2004 NY Indymedia.com reported, "On Thuesday, July 15, a multiethnic coalition is holding a press conference to continue focusing on the need to address bias crimes in NYC... New Immigrant Community Empowerment (NICE), a non-profit immigrant advocacy organization has formed a multiethnic coalition of over two-dozen organizations to end bias crimes in New York City. Coalition members include the United Sikh Coalition, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, Latin American Integration Center, the Anti Defamation League, the Council for American Islamic Relations, the Korean American League for Civic Action, the Organization of Chinese Americans, to name a few. The Coalition addresses the growing need for communities to better relate and for greater public resources as New York City becomes increasingly more diverse and more tense in a post 9/11 environment."
