On August 10, 2006 The Ann Arbor News reported, "The Muslim Community Association of Ann Arbor and Vicinity (MCA) announced it will hold a rally and march Friday afternoon to call for an immediate ceasefire in the fighting in southern Lebanon between Israel and Hezbollah guerrillas. The demonstration is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. at the Federal Building on Liberty Street between Fourth and Fifth avenues in Ann Arbor, according to a statement from the MCA. The MCA will be joined by other local organizations, including the Interfaith Council for Peace and Justice and Michigan Peace Works. 'Day after day we hear the news of more deaths and suffering of innocent civilians, we see the horrific images, and we wish we could somehow contribute to bringing this war to an end,' MCA President Samir Tout said in the statement."
