Description: The Siddha Yoga Meditation Center of Greater Boston in new quarters just outside Watertown Square offers meditation and chanting programs, intensive weekend meditation workshops, hatha yoga courses, study groups and other Siddha Yoga courses.

History and Practice: Siddha Yoga comes from an ancient spiritual tradition of India passed on through a lineage of meditation masters known as Siddhas. It was first brought to the United States by Swami Muktananda in the 1970s. Shortly before he passed away in 1982, Swami Muktananda appointed Gurumayi Chidvilasananda as his successor; she is now the spiritual head of the worldwide Siddha Yoga Community. The essence of Siddha Yoga meditation is the gift of shaktipat, a spiritual awakening that enables a seeker to embark on the sacred journey to know the inner self.
