Remote Positions Available for Harvard Students (Undergraduate, Graduate, and Doctoral) for Summer 2020 and Academic Year 2020-2021

We're seeking competent, dynamic applicants for multiple paid Research Associate positions during both the summer and academic year.

The Pluralism Project studies and interprets the changing religious landscape of the United States. We conduct research with the help of students, in collaboration with others in our field, and in partnership with religious communities and interfaith organizations. Our award-winning educational resources are informed by this ongoing research. We serve a wide audience, including educators, researchers, and the media. Our researchers contribute to the day-to-day functioning of the Project.

We are looking to fill multiple student positions. You are welcome to apply if you are able to work summer 2020, during the 2020-2021 academic year, or both summer 2020 and the upcoming academic year. Given the uncertainty caused by COVID-19, we are currently planning for all new positions to involve work that can be done remotely.

Working closely with senior staff, the research associates’ primary tasks will involve updating and developing new content for the Project's web-based resources, including its directory of religious and interfaith centers as well as its robust mapping projects. In addition our student researchers may help with social media and communications strategy. The team will share various tasks, including general office support, data entry, filing, editing, proofreading, html coding, web-based research, and promotion of our publications. We have flexibility as far as number of hours worked each week, both during the summer as well as the academic year.

Applicants are encouraged to review our website at www.pluralism.org and specify which particular projects mentioned above and which particular sections of the website interest them most. In addition, we ask each applicant to please specify 1) the number of hours preferred to work each week and 2) if you would like to be considered for summer work, academic year work, or both.

Pay is $15 per hour for graduate students and $13 per hour for undergraduates.

Work study eligibility is required for master's students and undergraduates for this position. We also will consider incoming students who are not yet eligible for work study but who would like to begin work in the summer.

Qualifications: Must be a Harvard student (undergraduate or graduate). Experience in any of the areas mentioned above is helpful. Some knowledge of world religions and sensitivity to religious issues and practices is a must. Attention to detail, ability to work in a collaborative environment, and computer literacy with Macs are also a plus. Due to the remote nature of the work, a reliable internet connection and ability to participate in weekly virtual meetings is a requirement.
