On July 28, 2003 The Boston Globe reported that "a fire early yesterday at a mosque in Quincy is under investigation by state and local authorities, but it is not being considered a hate crime, State Fire Marhsal Stephen D. Coan said. The fire, which destroyed a wooden porch in back of the Islamic Center of New England, might have originated in a dumpster on the property, Coan said.
