As Ramadan nears, prisons urged to accommodate faith needs during pandemic

A coalition of 20 faith groups is pressing prison officials across the country to accommodate all prisoners’ religious needs during the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, particularly with Ramadan around the corner.

Religious leaders stress ‘We’re all in this together’

Different religious institutions in South Florida have joined together to host virtual interfaith services and uplift people’s spirits during the new coronavirus pandemic.

One of these online services was an “Interfaith Vigil of Prayer” that was led by clergy of three houses of worship in Jupiter –Temple Beth Am, JupiterFirst Church and St. Peter Catholic Church. The service featured prayer, music, conversations and candle lighting.

Religious freedom groups question governor's day of prayer declaration

Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds declared Thursday a day of prayer as the state continues to battle the coronavirus, but one group says that's not her place. 

During her daily press conference Thursday morning, Reynolds asked Iowans to pray for protection, healing, grace and peace. 

"This has been a challenging time for all of us but with God’s grace there is always a promise of hope," she said.
