On January 8, 2005 the Associated Press reported, "Wisconsin's only Hindu temple is leading an effort among the state's immigrants from India to raise money for tsunami victims. The Hindu Temple of Wisconsin plans to hold a fund-raiser Sunday featuring special prayers by representatives of Hinduism, Christianity, Islam and Buddhism, said Prabhaker Rao Dammanna, the temple's president. Money raised will be sent to the Association for India's Development and All India Movement for Seva. Both nonprofit groups, which aim to help India bridge the gap between classes, can reach many people in India, fund-raiser organizers said."
