USG's Minority and Cultural Affairs Committee proposed an idea to all religions last semester, a united room for prayer on campus that would be open to all people without religious dogmas.
When students and faculty caught word, there were mixed reviews.
Some argued that their money should not go towards a room they won't use, due to the choice of being agnostic or atheist, and others encouraged the idea of acceptance among religions to pray or worship in one area.
Although some opinions from the general student body have been heard, the religious groups that would be using the space have not voiced their opinions yet.
Sarah Saeed, co-president of the Muslims Association, an active group of about 100 members, cautiously expressed the group's need for a private space to pray on campus.
"We don't want to disturb anyone, and we don't want to be disturbed, the Ward Gallery is a wonderful place to pray, and we are thankful to be able to use it, but it is rented out 2 to 3 times a week, making it difficult for us to have routine prayers there," said Saeed.
