January 29, 2008 3:05 am — They take wine and wafer, believing it is the body and blood of Jesus. They kneel, touch their heads to the floor and pray toward Mecca. They meditate, seeking an awakening — nirvana.
And they do it here, in the Rochester area, where historical icons such as Charles Finney, Walter Rauschenbusch and Susan B. Anthony have walked in faith before them and introduced ideas that changed the world.
Entire religions were founded just across the county line — Mormonism and Spiritualism. And other religions — like Christianity — have been altered forever by what was taught in Rochester.
