On November 23, 2002 The Daily Press reported that "members of the Wat Pasantidhamma temple in Carrollton [TX] say they never got a chance to explain the religious significance of erecting statues and building meditation huts in the woods on their property off Brewer's Neck Boulevard. That information might have persuaded the Isle of Wight Board of Supervisors to allow the Buddhist temple to move forward with its plans, a lawyer for the temple argued in Isle of Wight Circuit Court Friday. Earlier this year, the supervisors denied Wat Pasantidhamma's request to erect three statues and build six meditation huts because the plans called for building in a wooded area protected by the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act. The act created a 100-foot buffer around certain wetlands to prevent runoff into bay rivers and creeks. The temple appealed the supervisors' decision and had its day in court Friday. Judge Westbrook J. Parker said he intends to rule on the case soon after Thanksgiving."
