The Shiva Vishnu Temple in Mira Mesa wrapped up a five-day festival on Sunday welcoming its newest arrival – a likeness of Lord Venkateswara, also known as Balaji.

In Hinduism, Venkateswara is a form of the deity Vishnu, the sustainer of the universe.

Such installations are considered major events, and the final day drew at least 600 people, according to R. Lal Tummala, president of the temple's board. Onlookers spilled out of the small temple in the back of a business park to watch priests bathe the statue with urns of yogurt, milk and flower water and dress it in flower garlands.
