On October 7, 2004 The Forum News reported that, "excrement was smeared on the south door of Fargo's mosque this weekend. Whether the crime was hate-motivated is not clear. Fargo police were dispatched to the mosque [...] Sunday when the vandalism was noticed... Mohamed Fakhr, president of the Islamic Society of Fargo-Moorhead, said he is surprised by the vandalism. He said the community has been supportive of area Muslims since 9/11."
