In the wake of recent untoward incidents against Sikhs in some parts of the US, the US Department of Justice's Community Relations Service has launched a new initiative to sensitise the general public.
The department has posted a 17-minute video called On Common Ground: Sikh American Cultural Competency Training for Law Enforcement on its website. It provides police and security officers historical information on who Sikhs are ( see video ) and suggests how to approach them respectfully ( see video ) while remaining effective.
