On July 10, 2006 The Associated Press reported, "Two men pleaded guilty Monday to vandalizing a Hindu temple under construction in Maple Grove.

Tyler William Tuomie, 19, of Andover, and Paul Gus Spakousky, 20, of Maple Grove, each pleaded guilty to first-degree damage to property, admitting they caused the damage to the temple in April, according to Hennepin County Attorney Amy Klobuchar.

They broke into the temple, vandalized the interior of the building and destroyed several ornate handcrafted statutes, police said.

Under the plea agreement, each faces 30 to 60 days in jail and five years of probation and will be asked to pay restitution of up to $96,454, the county attorney's office said. They also would be required to attend a short overview course on the Hindu religion and perform 200 hours of community service at the temple."
