On June 17, 2003 Newsday reported that "a judge who admitted asking an Arab-American woman if she was a terrorist when she went to court last month to fight a parking ticket has stepped down... Village Justice William Crosbie, 79, resigned in a letter Monday to the mayor. The incident led the woman to file a complaint with the state Commission on Judicial Conduct."
