On May 17, 2006 a Muslim American Society Press Release reported, "Muslim American Society Freedom Foundation is encouraging all area Muslims to join the mobilization rally for Immigrant rights on Wednesday, May 17 on the National Mall in Washington, DC, starting at 4 pm. People are asked to assemble between 12th to 14th Streets NW between Madison and Jefferson Avenue. MAS Freedom Foundation is an integral part of the May 1 coalition, a national organization consisting of numerous immigrant and human rights groups. Executive Director Mahdi Bray will join the country’s immigrant rights leaders on the National Mall where tens of thousands of people are expected to participate in the massive rally. The rally will follow an all day lobbying session with members of Congress, which began at 9 am today. A delegation traveling from California will include Samina Faheem Sundas of the American Muslim Voice, a cultural and educational group based in Newark. 'All immigrant communities must stand together, or we stand alone,' said Bray. Bray added, 'It is critically important that all Muslims unite in support of this cause, because almost all of us are immigrants also.'”
