On December 15, 2003 South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported that about 100 worshippers met at a private residence in Lakeworth to celebrate the installation of a 800-pound marble statue of Hanuman, a Hindu monkey god central to the ancient epic, Ramayan,in their local temple on Lantana Road. The statue's placement at the temple was the culmination of five days of religious celebration. Ganesh Maharaj, a computer engineer who volunteers as a "pundit," or Hindu priest, at the temple, noted that the statue, which represents peace and happiness, is particularly appropriate in these times of uncertainty.
