On June 24, 2005 The Charlotte Observer reported, "Pentecostalism, Evangelical Christianity, Catholicism, Greek Orthodox, pantheism, Judaism, Buddhism -- such various religious traditions rarely are found together. But they're all represented in 'Thresholds: Expressions of Art and Spiritual Life,' an exhibit opening today with a public reception from 6 to 9 p.m. at the McColl Center for Visual Art in uptown Charlotte. Using different media -- painting, sculpture, crafts and outsider art -- artists from five Southern states including the Carolinas look at the meaning of life, death, good and evil and other spiritual issues. And they come at these questions from different traditions and points of view. It was important 'to bring together different religious traditions rather than see them as combative and separate,' said freelance curator Eleanor Heartney."
