On July 2, 2004 The Dallas Morning News reported,"When the Founding Fathers declared Americans free, they couldn't have imagined the diversity that would follow. We're a nation of Protestants, Catholics, Orthodox, Mormons, Jews, Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, Sikhs, Wiccans, agnostics, atheists, you name it. And while America is still predominantly Christian, the Christian family has fractured into hundreds of denominations and sects. It's not surprising, then, that Americans disagree on many spiritual matters, and on how faith should be applied in the political and social realms. In fact, it may be more remarkable to note the few ideals on which a majority overwhelmingly rules."
