On September 19, 2003 The Argus reported that 'hundreds of Sikh cab drivers lined the path" for the funeral of 21-year-old taxi driver Davinder Singh on Thursday, September 18. "Standing amid the crowd, Shamsher "Netajee" Singh, a driver for California Cab in San Jose, said angrily: 'We are not criminals, we are here to work hard and we help this community. We are not terrorists -- we are Sikhs.' "
