Sikhs, Jews Hosts Interfaith Diversity Event in New York

On November 28, 2005 the India Post reported, "The American Jewish Committee in association with the Sikh Organization of New York, Multi Faith Forum and Archdiocese of Rockville center hosted the annual Thanksgiving Diversity and Interfaith Breakfast on November 22 to celebrate in thanksgiving the multifaceted ethnicity of America. A Press release by the Sikh Organization of New York said [the] event highlighted how far as a nation America [has] grown in 'understanding the differences in each culture and to embrace and value them in all forms. It was also a moment of somber reflections of the many casualties America has faced this year, thro war and Natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina and Rita, yet through it all she shines as a beacon of hope for the world.' The key speakers in this event were the Thomas R. Suozzi, Nassau County Executive, T.J.Bindra, president of the Sikh Organization of New York, Rabbi Moses Birnbaum, president of Long Island Board of Rabbis Monsignor Donald Beckmann, Archdiocese of Rockville Center, and Leslie Bennett, president of Long Island Chapter of American Jewish committee. This event was attended by over 200 other dignitaries representing the inter faith Community of North America."
