On July 17, 2005 The Tribune reported, "The first ever-inter-faith symposium will be held at Lahore’s famous Al-Hamhra Convention Centre from November 12 to 22 where scholars and leaders of all world religions will make presentations and lead discussions on the universal teachings of Guru Nanak Dev and its impact on the inter-faith understanding and harmony. Mr Harbans Lal, founding vice-president, Sri Nana-kana Sahib Foundation and president, Academy of Guru Granth Studies, USA, stated this to The Tribune here today. He said the symposium, first of its kind, was part of a 10- day pilgrimage to Sikh holy places in Pakistan. He said the programme would begin with symposium in Lahore where people of all faiths would join world Sikh delegation to undertake the pilgrimage of peace in Pakistan on November 12. Later they would join the birthday celebrations in Nanakana Sahib and then undertake pilgrimage to Gurdwara Sri Panja Sahib and Gurdwara Bhai Joga Singh in Peshawar."
