Sikhs from Europe, America to Get Multiple Visas for Pakistan

On July 19, 2006 Sikh Sangat News reported, "Pakistan Federal Religious Minister Ejaz-ul-Haq has said the government was extending all possible travel facilities to the Sikh yatree (pilgrims) and has now decided to issue multiple visa to Sikhs visiting Pakistan from Europe and America. He was addressing a reception hosted in his honour by the World Muslim-Sikh Federation's chairman Manjmohan Singh in Southall. He said the decision of issuance of multiple visa to Sikhs were on the special instructions of Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz who was keen to give more travel facilities to Sikhs, as one of the most religious place of the Sikhs 'Punja Sahib' was situated in his constituency. In his brief remarks in Punjabi language, Ejaz-ul-Haq said Nankana Sahib was being made a district and a university would be established there which would have a special Chair of Guru Nanak to encourage scholars do research on his work. Besides three hotels, at a cost of Rs. 1 billion, would be constructed there so that the Sikhs pilgrims could stay there and visit Nankana Sahib. The Government is spending Rs.120 million per annum in Nankana Sahib as it acknowledged that it was very sacred place to the Sikhs."
