On April 19, 2006 The Indian Express reported, "To commemorate 300 years of martyrdom of the Sahibzadas of Sri Guru Gobind Singh in the battle of Chamkaur Sahib, a theme park, named Saka Chamkaur, is being constructed at Chamkaur Sahib, the first phase of which would be completed by the end of September this year... It was in December 2004 that Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had made an announcement at Chamkaur Sahib that it would be made a Sub-Division and also to set up a theme park wherein Sikh historical events would be depicted with a focus on the battle of Chamkaur, said Kang... Kang said almost nine acres of land had already been acquired for the theme park, which was being built at an estimated cost of Rs 13 crore. He said it would be a world-class memorial to preserve and promote the saga of events linked with the martyrdom of the Sahibzadas. The struggle, valour and martyrdom of the Sahibzadas against all odds and in the face of the mighty and formidable army of the Mughals was unparalleled in history, stated the minister. 'It is this valour that will be projected through this park,' he said. He added that all elements of Sikh heritage, values, legacy and theosophical thought would be incorporated into the design."
