On January 6, 2005 Newsday reported, "a Sikh subway operator forced to wear an MTA patch on his turban said he was hospitalized Thursday after he fell during an argument with a supervisor over the uniform requirement. Kevin Harrington, a No. 4 train operator who believes the patch humiliates him and violates his religious rights, injured his back during a fracas at the Woodlawn subway station in the Bronx. He does not know how long he will be out of work."
