Members of the Sikh community in the Tri-Cities have purchased a parcel of land in Pasco as the site of a future temple.

The parcel is a little over three acres and is at 7505 W. Court St., said Ajit Paul Singh of Kennewick, a member of the community.

There's a house on the land that's currently occupied, but the resident will be moving out, Singh said.

The Sikh community is planning to be in its new home by mid-April to celebrate Vasakhi, an Indian celebration that's similar to New Year's and that holds special meaning in the Sikh faith.
