On September 15, 2006 The Hindu reported, "Former Delhi Chief Minister Madan Lal Khurana said on Thursday that a new high has been reached in Hindu-Sikh unity with the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee agreeing to bear the cost of reconstruction of temples damaged in the recent demolition drive carried out by the Delhi Development Authority and the Akhil Bhartiya Sant Samiti agreeing to rebuild gurdwaras which came under the hammer. Criticising the demolition action, Mr. Khurana, who is undertaking a 'Dharma Yudh Yatra' in Delhi, said both DSGMC and ABSS would also come together to rebuild mosques and other places of worship that had been demolished. He said he had also urged Union Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy not to demolish religious structures on the Yamuna banks."
