On March 11, 2004 the Chicago Tribune reported, "Wars in Iraq and Chechnya, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and alienation of immigrants are helping Islamic extremists find willing recruits in the Netherlands, its secret service said Wednesday. In a report to parliament, the Dutch secret service said an increase in the recruitment of young Muslims, some minors, has occurred. The agency estimated 'a few dozen' of the enlistees are willing to engage in violence. The report, which noted 'a growing risk' to Dutch society and international rule of law, said recruiters are active in and around mosques, on the Internet and in prisons."
