On February 15, 2004 The San Francisco Chronicle reported, "Christians carry crosses. Taoists take the watercourse way. Jews follow the Star of David. But how do you design a sacred space where people of all faiths can feel at home? It's not easy, but that did not stop a group of architects and idealists meeting in San Francisco this weekend to judge the first-ever Interfaith Sacred Space Competition, which drew 157 entries from 17 countries."
