On July 24, 2005 The Press Enterprise reported, "A decade of explosive growth in the Inland area has created one of the most religiously diverse regions in the nation, experts say. Nearly 1 million people have moved to the Inland area in the past 10 years, many of them immigrants who are building ethnic churches, mosques and temples as they settle in new neighborhoods. Today, Riverside and San Bernardino counties are home to a dozen mosques, nearly two dozen Buddhist temples, more than a dozen churches with 2,000 or more members, the 12th largest Roman Catholic diocese in the country, the largest Seventh-day Adventist church in North America, new Orthodox Jewish communities, a Hindu temple, a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints temple and a Church of Scientology film studio. That rapid growth, which has pushed the two-county population to more than 3.8 million, challenges congregations that have outgrown their places of worship and residents who increasingly encounter religions with which they are unfamiliar."
