On August 29, 2005 the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle reported, "With just over two weeks until the Democratic primary, four of Rochester's mayoral candidates made campaign pitches to the public during a feisty forum at the Islamic Center of Rochester. Former Police Chief Robert Duffy, political new face Chris Maj, City Councilman Wade Norwood and Republican John Parrinello sparred over what to do about illegal drugs, public safety, economic development and city schools during nearly two hours... More than 50 people of varying religious backgrounds attended... Ramadan Muhammad, 73, of Rochester said the event left him leaning for Maj. 'I heard some things that were encouraging, but I've heard politicians use the same messages before.'"
