KUANTAN: After years of hardwork, the Kuantan Sikh community finally realised their aspiration to have a new landmark, the Gurdwara Sahib, in Jalan Bukit Ubi here.
Built at a cost of RM2mil, the Gurdwara Sahib was officially opened to the public in a grand ceremony recently.
Some 5,000 Sikh people from all over the country and Singapore congregated at the temple to pay homage and join in the prayers.
A priest from India and his clergymen were invited to grace the opening of the temple.
Prayers were held throughout the day to mark the auspicious occasion while a 30-member Malaysian Sikh Band led by drum major Terlochan Singh was called in to stage a performance.
