On June 26, 2005 The Miami Herald reported, "Today's lecture on Buddhism is the second in a four-part series at Riviera Presbyterian... on world religions. The series examined the views of Hinduism last weekend and will look at Islam and 'life's big questions' in the next two months. Riviera Church is providing a taste of these faiths after their regular services in hopes of increasing community understanding about different religious world views, administrative coordinator Barbara Prieto said... Dr. Stephen Sapp, chair of the University of Miami's Department of Religious Studies, is heading the series, which came about after Sapp was asked by the Riviera Church pastor and elders to teach a session on world religions for a children's confirmation class last spring. The class was very successful, and Sapp was asked by the Chair of the Church Education Committee to teach a summer lecture series on the same subject -- for adults."
