Multi-religious prayers were held in different parts of the UK in memory of the victims of the Mumbai terror attacks, which killed nearly 200 people.

"Our prayers go out to family members of those who were caught up in these attacks and either died or seriously injured," said Dr Shiv Pande, MBE, Honorary Secretary, Indo-British Association (North), who organised a prayer meeting in Liverpool.

He described the Mumbai multiple terror attacks as "inhumane, devastating, diabolical and an act against humanity".

Pande said: "The horrific attacks in Mumbai, like a number of recent overseas conflicts and attacks, have an impact on communities in the countries where they take place but also far beyond their shores - including people and communities in the UK with links of family and faith."
