Religious Leaders Praise Sonia Gandhi's Leadership

On May 28, 2004 The Times of India reported, "Leading the nationwide prayer meeting for the success of the tenure of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, All India Religious Leaders Association (AIRLA) president Moulana Peerzada Syed Shabbir Naqshbandi hailed the Nehru-Gandhi family as a symbol of 'secularism and sacrifice' in the nation. A five-member delegation led by Naqshbandi visited 10-Janpath in New Delhi and conveyed their blessings to Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her family and presented spiritual gifts according to Sufi tradition. He said that Sonia Gandhi had proved herself by nominating a Sikh leader in her place. Prominent religious leaders from different parts of the country including Sardar Surjeet Singh Lamba, Reverend Samuel John and Pandit Krishnan Murari expressed their wholehearted support to Dr. Singh. This was informed by the AIRLA branch office city secretary Anil Sharma on Thursday."
