Religious Communities Hold Interaction With Coordinator of Maoist Talks Team

Leaders of various religious groups held discussion with the Maoist spokesperson and coordinator of the Maoist talks team Krishna Bahadur Mahara on Thursday.

A press statement issued by Inter-Religious Council Nepal, organizer of the interaction, said, around 40 Hindu, Buddhist, Christian, Muslim, Bahai, Bon and Kirat religious leaders participated in the programme.

This was the first time that a high level leader of the CPN Maoist met with religious leaders, the statement added.

Speaking on the occasion, Mahara thanked the religious communities for their role in the people's movement and in the peace building process and said that his party was well aware of the important role being played by the religious communities in Nepal.
