Racial and religious tolerance levels in Sabah are the best in the country, making it the most harmonious place in Malaysia.
Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said this at a dinner for participants of the 1st Commonwealth Sports Tourism Conference at Shangri-La's Tanjung Aru Resort and Spa, Tuesday.
He said inter-marriages are common in the State and it is not strange to see Muslim and Christian family members living under one roof.
"Nowhere else in the country is there such high tolerance like in Sabah. It is only in Sabah that we never hear silly questions like 'what is your race?'," he said.
He said no major racial conflict has ever occurred in the State unlike in other parts in the world.
