On January 21, 2004 Pakistan Link reported that "the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) held its annual two-day convention recently with more than 1200 attendees. Speakers came from all over the nation to participate in the conference that covered the theme 'Progressive Islamic Thought & Human Rights...' Three presidential candidates, Howard Dean, Dennis Kucinich, and John Kerry made speeches to convention participants via the telephone. During their phone address, the candidates shared their perspective on a range of issues pertaining to the community, including the Patriot Act, Iraq, the immigration registration program, and the candidates’ plans to advance a peaceful solution to the war in Iraq and the conflict between Palestinians and Israelis."
