It is a ritual honoring Native American culture that has become a ritual in its own right -- Sunday's Potawatomi Trails Traditional/Social marked the 15th consecutive year that the powwow has come to Shiloh Park.
Holding forth in the oak grove, a circle of trees that formed a natural gathering spot for the region's ancestral Potawatomi, the highlights of the two-day festival are the grand entries that see dozens of participants parade in to the beat of drums, carrying the flags and staffs that mark both their heritage and military service.
