On June 17, 2005 The Huntsville Times reported, "The new Hindu temple near the Madison/Limestone county border is a work in progress that could take years to complete. Even though the gargantuan building that sits in a clearing at the end of Smith Drive is not finished, it will be dedicated this weekend during a full schedule of activities celebrating the Consecration of Deities at North Alabama's only Hindu temple. 'It will be a while before it is finished,' said Dr. Suresh Karnie, a member of the board of the Hindu Cultural Center of North Alabama. 'We've had some logistical problems, but they are being worked out. But you have to consecrate the deities before you can hold any other (sacred) events.'... The weeklong celebration began Monday with services and activities each day. Several high-level Hindu and Indian officials will be in attendance... In addition to the dignitaries, hundreds of Hindus from throughout North Alabama and southern Tennessee are expected for the celebration of the Consecration of Deities."
