Zamfara State government has moved in swiftly to avert a possible clash between Christians and Muslims in the state.
It has therefore sent a warning to all its citizens not to take part in any street demonstration to protest an alleged blasphemy against Prophet Muhammad by some Dutch nationals.
Similar protests in the past had led to confrontation between the adherents of the two faiths.
In a statement made available to journalists in Gusau, the state government further condemned the alleged blasphemy which it said was capable of creating tension in all parts of the globe.
The two- page statement signed by the state's Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Dr Muhammad Tukur Sani Jangebe, urged Muslims not to react to the alleged blasphemy.
