On November 28, 2003 News India-Times reported that hundreds of Parsis packed the Ballroom of the Metropolitan Hotel in New York on Nov. 15 to celebrate 3,000 years of Zoroastrian Culture. The event included both Zoroastrians from the Indian and Iranian traditions. "The Zoroastrian Association of Greater New York (ZAGNY) and the Iranian Zoroastrian Association (IZA) organized the event, entitled ‘The History, Beliefs and the Influence of Zoroastrianism on Other Cultures,’ in association with Asia Society and the Middle East and Middle Eastern American Center at CUNY Graduate Center. It was part of a larger worldwide celebration this year in association with Unesco, which had adopted a resolution at its 31st General Conference urging all its member nation states to celebrate the Zoroastrian Millennial in a fitting fashion."
