On September 25, 2003 The Express-Times reported that the Nazareth township's board of supervisors unanimously voted to give preliminary/final approval to the Sikh Society of the Lehigh Valley's plans for building a temple. The temple will be the first of its kind within more than a fifty mile radius. The new temple will be a 13,000-square-foot, two-story building with worshipping space, classrooms and a kitchen area. The meeting comes as a relief to the religion's nearly 200 regional members, who have been practicing in the basement of an auto repair center.
